چکیده

This study is retrospective investigation of extramedullary plasmacytomas(EMPs) in patients with multiple myeloma (MM ) . The main purpose is to discuss the clinical characteristics and treatment. Method:We studied 79 patients of EMP in MM, and collected the clinical characteristics, laboratory features, treatment, and prognosis of extramedullary plasmacytoma(EMP) in patients with multiple myeloma(MM). Pataints were divided into two groups: group 1 included 32 patients who developed EMP during the course of MM; group 2 included 47 patients who had EMP at the time of MM diagnosis.Result: The median patient age was 56.2 years, with a male/female ratio of 45:34. MM cells can invade all parts of the body. The most common sites for EMP were soft tissues(50 patients), spinal canal (36 patients). The median survival duration of the two groups was 33.6 months (range: 8–96 months) and 21 months (range: 1–52 months) respectively.Especially for 2 groups,is less than the average survival time 3-5 years with the comparison to the patients who were not combinated with EMP. Conclusion:The occurrence of EMPs in patients with MM is associated with poor outcomes.

Solitary extramedullary and bone plasmacytomas versus multiple myeloma with extramedullary manifestation.

Extramedullary disease in plasma cell disorders can occur as a solitary plasmacytoma or can involve multiple sites with vastly different clinical outcomes. The article by Khaliq et al reports an unusual case of solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma (SEP) of the bladder in which the patient had a favorable outcome with lenalidomide/dexamethasone after failing first-line treatment with radiotherap...

گزارش موردی اکسترامدولاری پلاسماسیتومای بیضه

Extramedullary plasmacytomas are plasma cell tumors that arise outside the bone marrow. They are most often located in the head and neck. Extramedullary plasmacytomas account for approximately 3 percent of plasma cell malignancies. The diagnosis of an extramedullary plasmacytoma depends upon the demonstration of a monoclonal plasma cell tumor at an extramedullary site with no evidence of multip...

Recurrent extramedullary plasmacytoma in asymptomatic multiple myeloma: a case report

INTRODUCTION The gross majority of extramedullary plasmacytomas arise in the lymphatic tissue of the upper respiratory tract. On average, one third of patients with a solid plasmacytoma will develop multiple myeloma, resulting in a worse clinical outcome. We describe a case of rapid recurrent extramedullary plasmacytomas in the background of an asymptomatic multiple myeloma. CASE PRESENTATION...

Clinical Diagnosis DYSPHAGIA SECONDARY TO A SOLITARY PLASMACYTOMA

Solitary plasmacytomas are tumors of plasma cell origin that constitute less than 10% of all plasma cell neoplasms. These tumors are categorized as extramedullary plasmacytomas (non-osseous) or solitary plasmacytomas of bone (osseous). Extramedullary plasmacytomas frequently remain localized and usually can be treated effectively with radiation therapy, whereas solitary plasmacytomas of bone fr...

Extramedullary relapse of IgA-lambda myeloma after recent bortezomib therapy: a case report

Intracranial plasmacytomas are an uncommon presentation of extramedullary relapse of multiple myeloma. The optimal management of extramedullary plasmacytomas remains unclear, with initial reports of bortezomib showing promising clinical results. We describe a case of multiple extracellular, including intracranial, plasmacytoma, with no evidence of marrow involvement, in a patient with relapsed ...
